Joining a committee is a great way to take full advantage of the benefits of your AEI membership. To apply for a committee, send an e-mail including the committee you wish to join, a statement of interest and your resume or other applicable credentials to aei@asce.org. The deadline for committee applicants is Tuesday, September 28th, 2004. Online Magazine Coming Soon - Writers Wanted! AEI News AEI's Strategic Plan This year the AEI Board completed the Institute's 2005 strategic plan. The Board further refined the core values and vision which provides us with the challenge to become the global leader for the development and operation of buildings. The plan also outlines goals and objectives that will guide AEI for years to come. » Click here to see the complete 2005 Strategic Plan. Bylaw Changes The ASCE Board will discuss and vote on two amendments to the AEI bylaws at their meeting in October in Baltimore, Maryland. Article IV references the creation of Corporate and Supporting Corporate memberships. These new membership levels will replace the current Industry Member and Affiliate Industry Membership levels. Article V concerns a decrease in AEI-only membership dues from $140 to $100 per year. The new AEI-only member rate of $100 does not include the Journal of Architectural Engineering but the Journal can be purchased at the member price of $51. The AEI-only membership does include the new online quarterly magazine scheduled to come out in January. Click on the links below to read the text of the proposed changes. Please direct any comments on the proposed amendments to aei@asce.org by October 5th. » Article IV » Article V ASCE Governance Restructuring Passed ASCE members voted this month on the first significant restructuring of ASCE governance in 30 years. This restructuring streamlines representation by decreasing the ASCE Board from 28 members to 17 and adds two Institute Elected Directors as well as two At-Large Directors. Adding these four directors broadens representation by diverse technical communities. One of the greatest benefits for AEI is that ASCE/AEI members can elect Institute leaders directly to the ASCE Board. » Click here for the ASCE Press Release.
