AEI Governing Board Endorses Stan R. Caldwell, P.E., F.ASCE, F.AEI for Technical Region Director

Last summer ASCE members voted to adopt broad changes in ASCE's governance structure. These changes represent the first significant restructuring in more than 30 years. The restructuring streamlines representation on the ASCE Board of Direction (BOD), adds Technical Directors from the Institutes and At-Large Directors to the board and creates a new regional structure. On Saturday, January 15, 2005, the Technical Region Board of Governors met in Tampa, Florida and nominated its first two candidates: Stan R. Caldwell, P.E., F.ASCE, F.AEI (founder of AEI) and Jeffrey B. Bradley, Ph.D., P.E., D.AAWRE, F.ASCE (past EWRI President). The Technical Region Board of Governors oversees the process for nominating the Society President-elect from the Technical Region and for nominating the Technical Region Society Director. In June all eligible voters will be able to cast their ballot electronically. The Architectural Engineering Institute Board of Governors nominated Mr. Caldwell last October and proudly endorses his candidacy for Technical Region Director.

AEI Thanks Volunteers Who Helped with the A.E. P.E. Exam

Last February the Architectural Engineering Institute of ASCE solicited the expertise of licensed professional engineers with construction management experience to help with the pre-testing of the A.E. P.E. Exam. The A.E. P.E. exam is currently the only P.E. exam that tests construction management knowledge as well as structural, electrical and mechanical systems design. The chairman, Mark McAfee, P.E., was overwhelmed with responses, and he will not be able to thank each individual personally. For those of you who generously offered your time, please understand that your reply was much appreciated! AEI would like to take this opportunity to also thank the many individuals in all disciplines who make the A.E. P.E. exam a reality.
